FIP Treatment Must-Knows

  1. What should I feed my cat during the treatment?
    Freshly cooked fish, chicken, and other natural foods are recommended. If your cat experiences diarrhea, consider switching to dry cat food for a few days until the symptoms subside.

  2. How long is the treatment?
    The recommended treatment length is 12 weeks. However, the duration may vary based on factors such as:

    • Your cat's response to the treatment.
    • The stage of the FIP infection when treatment began.
    • Your personal financial situation.
  3. Can GS-441524 be used with other medications?
    Yes, GS is an antiviral treatment and can be combined with other medications to enhance your cat’s overall health. However, avoid using:

    • Lysine IS with GS.
    • Antibiotics like Fluoroquinolones, as they can harm the nervous system of cats with FIP.
  4. Can Interferon be used for FIP treatment?
    Interferon is an immunosuppressant drug that helps reduce FIP symptoms by controlling the body's response to the virus. However, it does not treat the FIP virus itself and cannot cure the disease.

  5. What else should I know?

    • As your cat heals, it will gain weight as its appetite improves. Weigh your cat weekly and adjust the dosage accordingly.
    • Work closely with your veterinarian to address potential complications such as liver or kidney damage and secondary infections.

Injection Treatment

  1. How much GS is in a vial?
    Each vial contains ≥8 ml of solution.

  2. Why offer 2 concentrations?
    Higher concentrations are suited for larger cats or cats with severe FIP symptoms.

  3. How much and how often should I inject?
    Administer injections once daily based on your cat's body weight for the full 12-week treatment period.

  4. How to calculate the appropriate dosage?
    Use our dosage calculator for precise measurements. Avoid reducing the dosage during treatment to prevent viral resistance to GS.

  5. How should I store the vials?
    Store vials at room temperature (25°C or 77°F), away from direct sunlight.
