84-Day FIP Treatment Protocol: What to Expect at Each Stage?

Why 84 Days Exactly?

The 84-day (12-week) protocol is the scientifically proven duration to ensure complete eradication of the FIP virus. Stopping early significantly increases the risk of relapse.

Correct Doses Throughout the Protocol

  • Wet FIP: 6 mg/kg/day
  • Dry FIP: 8 mg/kg/day
  • Ocular FIP: 10 mg/kg/day
  • Neurological FIP: 10 mg/kg/day

Do not reduce the dose even if the cat improves. Weigh your cat weekly and adjust the dose if the weight changes.

Phase 1: Week 1–4

This is the critical phase where the cat's response to treatment is determined.

  • Improved appetite within the first two weeks — an early positive sign
  • Fever reduction within the first few days
  • In Wet FIP: fluid reduction begins within the first two weeks
  • Do not stop treatment even if the cat seems fine

Phase 2: Week 5–8

  • Continue daily treatment without interruption
  • Perform a complete blood test to check for improvement
  • Monitor liver and kidney functions
  • Gradual weight gain

Phase 3: Week 9–12

  • Complete the protocol until day 84 — do not stop early
  • Final blood test in week 12
  • The cat looks perfectly fine — this is normal, continue

Observation Phase: After Day 84

  • Monitor for an additional 12 weeks
  • Blood test monthly during the observation period
  • If relapse symptoms appear, contact us immediately

Important Tips Throughout the Protocol

  • Feed your cat fresh, natural food (chicken, fish)
  • Do not use Fluoroquinolone antibiotics
  • Do not use Lysine with GS-441524
  • Weigh your cat weekly and adjust the dose
